Ellis Hospitality operates six individually franchised hotels in the state of California. The hotel operator wanted to offer a competitive 401(k) benefit as part of an intended expansion and enhancement to their benefits offering. However, the franchise also needed to comply with the CalSavers state mandate, which requires most businesses in the state of California to offer retirement benefits.
Ellis Hospitality launched its Human Interest plan in March 2022. Human Interest has helped empower Ellis Hospitality to expand its benefits package to include a 401(k) for all hotel properties, with almost no administrative burden. “Signing up six hotels would normally be daunting, but it was a very smooth process,” said Ken Westmeyer, Vice President of Operations for Ellis Hospitality. “It was very easy.”
